Position Summary
The Dispatch Officer performs law enforcement-related communications. Incumbents in this position operate the computer-aided dispatch system, monitor and operate multi-line telecommunications and radio communications, determine the type and level of response necessary, accomplish timely and effective dispatch of emergency response units, monitor the safety of responding units and retrieve information from local, state and federal information systems.
This position requires availability for all shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Job Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- MULES Certification is required within six months of employment.
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
- Maintain requirements as stated in RsMO Statute 650.340 for continuing education to maintain employment in good standing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the layout of the City of Wentzville.
- Ability to effectively and timely communicate information using multi-line phones, multiple
radio channels and CAD systems. - Ability to develop call interpretation and decision-making skills necessary to effectively dispatch appropriate emergency services.
- Ability to perform essential functions of 911 dispatching during CAD system failures.
