Full-Time position M-F.
We are a busy growing medical practice with a new state of the art office and need to add some dedicated team members who want to grow with us. We are looking for a friendly and detail-oriented New Patient Coordinator/Scheduler & Medical Biller.
Pay starts at $15 with Opportunities for Advancement.
The New Patient Coordinator/Scheduler you will greet patients, gather personal and insurance information, and verify their prescription or referral. During the process, you will ensure the patient feels at ease and that you answer any questions they may have about the facility or scheduling options. You will also describe their out-of-pocket costs and explain payment plans available through our health care network.
The Medical Biller will be responsible for transferring patient and insurance information and initiating payment processes and procedures. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in billing software, medical insurance regulations, and an expert at responding to patient and insurance inquiries. The medical biller will also be responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality, handling personal information, and accurately inputting patient data into the system.
We expect our team members to always maintain a professional demeanor and ensure patient information is confidential.
We have three office locations so occasional travel may be required.
New Patient Coordinator/Scheduler Duties and Responsibilities
- Gather personal information and input into the computer system
- Obtain insurance information and verify coverage
- Explain out-of-pocket costs and available payment plans
- Schedule appointments
- Maintain patient confidentiality
Medical Biller Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure patient information is accurate and complete
- Request any missing patient information
- Review referrals and authorizations
- Confirm patient benefits and insurance
- Follow all regulations and guidelines set by Medicare, state programs, and HMO/PPO
- Transfer insurance claims and billing data to billing software
- Create both paper and electronic copies of documentation
- Develop and maintain a tracking system of incoming and late payments
- Monitor and date late payments
- Initiate late payment notices to relevant parties
- Respond to questions and complaints from patients or insurance companies
- Follow-up on late or missed payment notices
- Monitor and resolve financial discrepancies
- Arrange payment plans and timelines for payments
- File and maintain organized documentation of all billing and record
- Follow set billing processes and procedures
- Update and review all accounts to keep records of payments up to date
- Work with personal information and maintain patient confidentiality
New Patient Coordinator/Scheduler Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and with Insurance Verification
- Ability to type
- Ability to multi-task and efficiently handle heavy patient volumes
- Ability to work independently and willingness to learn new skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, team-oriented, professional, compassionate & courteous
Medical Biller Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work without supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel); working knowledge of billing software and electronic medica records a plus
- Strong customer service skills and comfortable answering both patient and insurance company questions
