Automotive Mechanic Advisor

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for working collaboratively with the Automotive Department team to meet
the needs of the customers in the Automotive Department consistent with the mission and objectives of Community
Co-Op.
DUTIES:
1. The main purpose of this job is to provide exceptional customer service to our customers. This exceptional
customer service is achieved by doing the following:
a. Work with the manager and other mechanics to diagnose and repair the mechanical and electrical
components of vehicles.
b. Listening to clients to learn more about vehicle history, potential problems, and the services they would
like to receive.
c. Performing test drivers, inspections, and other diagnostic tests of vehicles to identity where problem sexists
and determine which parts need to be repairs or replaced.
d. Completing preventative maintenance of vehicles, such and performing oil changes, flushing and replacing
fluids, and replacing brakes.
e. Generating timelines and estimates for repairs and discussing options with clients
f. Inspecting internal systems and controls to ensure the vehicle is operating properly and in compliance with
state regulations.
g. Maintaining accurate records relating to clients, their vehicles, parts and service history.
h. Using shop equipment as instructed, performing regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
i. Engaging in learning opportunities to update job knowledge and technical skills.
j. Prepared to get additional certification as needed.
k. Willingness to learn with hands-on training.
l. Help keep repair shop clean and organized.
m. Keep a professional appearance.
n. Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training required.
3. ASE certifications required.
4. Graduated from an associate degree program in auto maintenance and repair or equivalent work experience.
5. Experience as a lube technician or prepared to do on-the job training.
6. Understanding of automotive air conditioning systems.
7. Ability to use the diagnostic equipment.
8. Experience with heavy equipment and as a diesel mechanic, diesel engine knowledge, or prepared to do on the
job training.
9. Valid driver’s license.
10. Must read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.
11. Detail oriented.
