RESPONSIBILITIES
Database Administrators at the NSA design, develop, test, and deliver database systems. They manage life cycle support of database systems. Typical tasks include applying patches and upgrades, diagnosing and resolving problems, monitoring and improving performance. Our Database Administrators migrate data from legacy systems to modern systems and design and manage backup and recovery processes and continuity of operations plans. Database Administrators select appropriate database technologies for specific requirements, such as online transaction processing systems (OLTP), decision support systems (DSS), data warehouses, object-oriented or other non-relational data stores, real-time systems, and mass storage systems. They acquire data, coordinate data flow, and promote data quality.
SKILLS
The ideal candidate is someone with a desire for experiential learning and strong problem-solving, analytic and interpersonal skills who is: - experienced in programming languages such as SQL, Python, C# and different types of database administration such as Oracle and Mongo - willing to take the initiative - innovative - able to work effectively across several different functional areas in a collaborative environment - able to communicate effectively (both orally and written) - well-organized and able to handle multiple assignments
PAY BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Salary range varies by location and work level. This position is hiring for Maryland and Texas. Salary Range: $32,589 - $145,617 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance, Senior) On-the job training, internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, with basic 8 hour/day work requirements between 0600 and 1800 (flexible). Applicants should be aware that some of these jobs support 24/7 operations on 12 hour rotating shifts, based on mission requirements. Shift schedules may vary to include night shift.
