Housekeeper (Full-time)

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary purpose is to assist the Villagers in maintaining their apartments in a clean, safe and comfortable manner, and to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with the current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the CEO, Administrator and/or Director of Housekeeping.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains Departmental Operations
- Assures that all work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
- Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. (Note: Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.)
- Coordinate daily housekeeping services with housekeeping supervisor, Villager Services, and/or area managers when performing routine cleaning assignments in Villager living and/or recreational areas, and office areas.

- Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed or called.
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
- File complaint/grievances with your supervisor.
- Participate and assist in department studies and projects as directed.
- Attend and participate in in service educational classes, on-the-job training programs, etc., as scheduled or directed.
Maintains a Safe and Clean Working Environment
- Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
- Assure that established infection control and standard precautions practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
- Use protective clothing/devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious waste and/or blood/body fluids.
- Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor.
- Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.
- Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.
- Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects, such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must pass required health screen and testing before employment begins and yearly thereafter, as applicable to the position.
- Must have an acceptable criminal history report as defined by the Older Adults Protective Services Act and its amendments.
- A high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience preferred, but on-the-job training provided.
- Ability to be flexible and to adapt to change.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, Villagers, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of housekeeping areas; must perform regular inspections of assigned areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance.
- Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel, as well as be willing to handle Villagers based on the maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions, etc.
