Reports to: Assistant Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Business
Assignment: Twelve-month position

The Liberty Central School District is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Technology. The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Business and have a proven record of accomplishment in technology planning and technology personnel management, ideally in a K-12 academic setting. In addition, the candidate will have a track record of integrating technology into classroom settings, effective project management, strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience working with a range of software, hardware, and operating systems.
The Director must be a creative and dynamic leader. As a visionary, collaborative and supportive leader, the Director will engage with administrators, educators and support personnel, parents and students to extend responsible and creative use of technology.
Essential Job Functions:
- In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent; oversee professional development of staff on the integration of technology into the curriculum.
- In collaboration with the District Data and Privacy Officer, ensure that network and other technology resources are used safely and responsibly rather than limiting access.
- Work closely with the leadership team and stakeholders to plan, develop, and implement a shared vision of technology with a long-term, big-picture technology plan based on the district’s strategic plan.
- Possess a deep understanding of current educational research on technology and experience with models for technology integration in a 1:1 environment.
- Serve as the Google application administrator: maintain accounts, rights, and monitor usage.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Business, develop and monitor the technology budget.
- Chair the District Technology Committee and Subcommittees.
- Provide technology support to all staff and students.
- Coordinate student/teacher loan of equipment.
- Provide professional development sessions that focus on technology and use of technology.
- IT Work Orders-filter requests and assign appropriate techs, monitor progress of requests.
- Inventory all new hardware and maintain location information on hardware throughout the district.
- Revise and submit District Technology Plan when required by the State.
- Pursue and secure cost reduction or cost shifting measures to fund technology initiatives, including applying for and monitoring all technology grants and the District’s Federal e-Rate funding and SMART Bond applications.
- Oversee and serve security programs and serve as a liaison with our safety and security companies; such as but not limited to surveillance cameras and automated lock down systems.
- Liaison between the Sullivan County BOCES, Ulster BOCES MHRIC, and other technology consultants to understand current and future trends in educational technology.
- Liaison between the District and local infrastructure vendors.
- Provide leadership and supervision in the development and evaluation of assigned personnel.
- Attend all Board of Education meetings and provide a monthly report.
- Provide clear and thoughtful communication to all district stakeholders.
- All other duties assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Business.
Job Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
- A valid New York State certificate as a School District Administrator or School District Leader; or have the qualifications to take or have taken the School District Director of Operations and Network Administration Civil Service exam.
- Advanced Degree in Educational Technology or related field experience preferred.
