Pathologist Assistant | Surgical Pathologist
This position is defined as a professional assistant to the pathologist whose duties include grossing of specimens, gross photography, accessioning of surgical specimens, and instruction of residents and medical students in handling gross surgical specimens. Performance of frozen sections and all other related duties. The Pathologist Assistant will work in a CLIA-certified surgical grossing laboratory and will direct and assist in the daily workflow of the staff and house staff of the laboratory. Proper grossing at UF Health, as a tertiary care center, requires proper specimen selection for the various tests being requested and for accurate diagnosis and frozen section performance. These tests may involve flow cytometry, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, cytogenetics and frozen sections. Sample selection is critical to have the proper amount, type and location.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must meet qualifications for CLIA high-complexity testing personnel.
- Option 1: Bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited American Association of Pathologists' Assistant program.
- Option 2: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and completion of NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program within the last five years.
- Option 3: Medical degree (including foreign master's level) or higher may substitute for a bachelor's degree with five years of clinical experience in anatomic pathology and clinical experience within the past 24 months.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Must have an active American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or be eligible to sit for the ASCP certification examination (renewed every three years).
Minimum Pay Rate - Hourly: $48.08
Midpoint Pay Rate - Hourly: $56.49
